The Best Of The Prequels?

Now that the Force Awakens has been out in theaters for over two weeks, it’s time to discuss which of the series is the best, and which is the worst...

For many people, the Force Awakens is their favorite of the newer releases (for some it’s their favorite of the entire series).

Here is one member’s review of his favorite of the prequels:

Dinosaurus Rex

Revenge of the Sith is definitely the best of the prequels. There are good parts to it, although, in my opinion, it’s still kind of bad. But at least it’s watchable.

The good

The emperor is one of the greatest parts of this film to me. He’s one of the few characters who actually shows some emotion in these films. He’s so evil and silly, he’s just really entertaining.

The music and sound is amazing, like all Star Wars films.

The CGI is definitely an improvement over the previous prequels.

We actually seem Anikin and Obi-Wan be friends in the opening scene.

There are less galactic senate scenes that nobody cares about.

There is less Jar Jar.

General Greivous looks cool?

That part where Yoda walks into a room, two guards try to attack him, and he just lifts a finger and they crash into the wall, immediately rendered unconscious or even dead.

The bad

Too much CGI, nothing looks real.

Bad dialogue.

Why can’t Jedi love? The Jedi are so robotic and emotionless that it is impossible to relate to them.

Exposition is given in boring ways. Characters just sitting down and talking, or characters walking and talking, characters walking to a place to sit while talking.

The camera work in this film and all other prequels is so boring.

Characters have to say how they feel instead of show it through their actions most of the time.

Lightsaber fights still look like a dance off, just like they did in other prequels.

Anikin and Obi’s ‘epic’ fight goes on for too long, and there is far too much stuff going on in the background, distracting from the emotions of the characters, which should be the main focus of the fight.

Yoda has a Lightsaber in this film.

Yoda is in this film.

General Greivous is a wasted character.

Just to clarify...

I used to love General Greivous when I was younger, because he has a really cool character design. I just wish he was a better bad guy, and didn’t run away all the time.

I love Yoda, but him being in any of the prequels ruins the surprise in Empire Strikes Back that this small creature is a powerful Jedi master. At least, it does if you watch the films in episodic order, instead of order of release. Also, I really don’t think he should have a Lightsaber; Yoda is so powerful and magical that he should be above that. Same with the emperor too, I guess.

I could go on, but I won’t.

So... What is your favorite movie out of the Prequels? Is The Force Awakens your favorite of the entire series? If not, which is?!

  • Vale: To answer my own questions.... My favorites are still the original Trilogy, I’m not a big fan of the Prequels, but The Force Awakens looks like a great movie (it’s still not released where I live....)
