Your Guidance...

I don't think I've seen this brought up here, but there are so many threads. Sorry if it's been discussed to death.

There was only one part of the movie that I really couldn't get a handle on... The scene was in Palpatine's chamber, Anakin had gone there to ask him to convince Padme to return to Naboo...

Gross paraphrase:

Palpatine: 'They've finally given you an assignment? Your patience has paid off' Anakin: 'No, your guidance' Palpatine: 'blah blah blah, more powerful than yoda, blah blah blah'

So what exactly is the signifigance of this statement? Are we to believe that:

a.) Anakin is just doing some high-exposure ass kissing,

or

b.) Palp & Anakin have had a few discussions on the side that we (and Obi-Wan, etc) don't yet know about?

Any comments?

i'd go with b. it seems that Palp is acting as a kind of mentor to Anakin...

according to the novel version of AOTC.. Palpatine is very close to Anakin.. even closer than ObiWan

Palpatine will take any opportunity to encourage Anakin's arrogance. A few well-chosen words will accelerate his descent to the dark side.

I think there is something evil about Palpetine. At the end of TPM there was talk of 'always there are two sith, the master and the apprentice....' then someone says some thing like 'but who was killed... the master or the apprentice...?' then the camera focuses right onto Palpetine....

while we're at it... maybe Jango didn't die... maybe it was his clone... remember he ordered an unaltered clone... (j/k)

No chance. He's a nice man who's doing his best to hold the Republic together. I'm sure that once the crisis is over he'll step down as Chancellor and retire to the Naboo lake country.

No way. He should never retire. In fact, I think he should be made Chancellor for life. The Republic is a vast empire and only a man like Palpatine should lead it.

(If you beleive that) I know guy who has htis bridge on Tanootie that he wants to sell real cheap.

Palpy has been cultivating a relationship with Anakin ever since the end of ep1 10 years ago (movie time). Anakin offten ask Palpatine for advice on things. It is asumed that Palpatine is tweaking Anakin to the dark side.
