How many of you remember what you thought the first time you saw Yoda? How many suspected that he was Yoda? When did the idea occur to you?

I remember seeing ESB for the first time, but I don't remember what I thought about this scene.

About when Luke *bonked* his head.

Like Luke, I was expecting a great warrior or at the very least somebody along the lines of Obi-Wan.

Well, though I didn't suspect him to be Yoda, the minute he told Luke who he was, I remember then and there believing that he (Yoda) could take on Vader and the Emperor. OK, this was back in 1980 ... but it is funny that by the end of the film, even if Luke still had some doubts, I remember I was listening to the Jedi Master.

I honestly thought the little green guy was taking Luke to go see Master Yoda, I was a little dissapointed , but he soon grew on me, like snot Yoda rules.

What, no theories about Yoda created a clone of himself to act as the 'stupid Yoda' since he couldn't possibly bring himself down to act that way himself, and Luke was enough of a Jedi already to detect such a strong Jedi Master standing right next to him?

Why not, makes about as much sense as the Palpatine/Sidious clone theories (and would improve the plot about as much as them too.)

I was about 10 years old and already jaded. I remember thinking the little green dude was probably going to end up being Yoda, but I admit I wasn't sure, not like I was sure in Ep2 he would turn out to be Anakin's father. Whoops forgot spoiler space...

Dissapointed to know that he was Yoda at first. But when he started talking seriously about the force, you had to admire the little guy.

I was 13 when it came out so I wasn't as sophisticated as I am now so it totally went over my head. The only things I remember feeling upon viewing TESB then was I wondered if Vader really was Luke's father and that I was upset about the cliffhanger ending.

says...

I don't think I realized it right away. I may have suspected by the time Luke came inside Yoda's hut. I'm not sure. It's a long time ago.
