i just want to ask of all of you this question: is darth vader the guy in the suit or just anakin's sith name. why are most people assuming that vader is the guy in the suit. remember that in ROTJ that obi-wan said, 'he was consumed by the dark side. he cease to be anakin and became darth vader.' so, if there is a fight in ep3 between anakin and obi-wan that ends with anakin falling into a lava pit (which i doubt, due to lucas' departure from what was novelized), this fight will not be between anakin and obi-wan; it will between vader and obi-wan. you just can't think of vader as a bad dude in a black suit. thoughts?

'So what I told you was true.......... from a certain point of view.'

I think you have a point, but it is a semantical one at best.

I've thought this all along myself. We *can* have a Darth Vader without the familiar black life support suit. Personally, it would be weird to see an Anakin-looking Vader but, again, it could happen. I may be comparing apples to oranges but it was weird see C-3PO without coverings in Episode I but it was still C-3PO, just in a different form. It will indeed be interesting to see at what point Lucas changes the name to Darth Vader.

But remember, Count Dooku was also known as Darth Tyrannus simultaneously, but in different circles. By that logic, Anakin could also be considered Darth Vader depending on who was referring to him.

When they finally realize what is going on, it's a bloodbath. Finally, Obiwan faces off with Anakin/Vader. There may be a moment where he can kill him, but instead shows some mercy, and tries to being Anakin back from the Dark Side. And he's nearly successful. But Vader comes back out, and in a quick flurry, ends up in the lava. Assuming he's dead, Obi Wan runs, joins up with Yoda and deals with the impending birth of the twins. It turns out, however, that Vader survived the pit, but it scarred him psychologically, permanently making Vader the dominant personality (until ROTJ). ObiWan takes Luke and runs to Tatooine, Yoda leads Leia and maybe Padme to Aldeeran, then gets out of dodge to as not to draw attention to her. ObiWan, however, is feeling guilty and chooses to personally watch over Luke from afar to ensure nothing happens to him.

'Why not have the same with Anakin? I'd like to see him be 'Vader' in meetings with Sidious, but still be among the Jedi. This would really allow him to set up the Jedi for their fall, and certainly something I think the Emperor would want - his guy in the Jedi ranks.'

This would be something to see and definately something the Emperor would want, however since Jedi are forbidden to have attachments, and his constant disapproval from Obi-wan EpIII has to start out with Anakin being banished from the order primarily because of his marriage to Padme. This will leave Anakin open for recruitment by Sidious and ultimately, maybe, a battle with Dooku for that spot wich of course Anakin will win.

Dooku uses Anakins severed hand to clone him, molding him into Darth Vader. Obi Wan fights with Anakin and throws him into the pit, where he dies. Dooku uses Anakins severed hand to clone him, molding him into Darth Vader. Obi Wan meet this cloned Anakin and thinks that he is the real one who somehow escaped from the pit - Anakin is dead - Vader lives - Vader is not Luke's Father - That would be the best ending to the saga

If Vader is not Luke's farther, then why did he turn away from the dark side to save Luke. This is just plan silly....Equally silly would be if the clone was Luke's 'real' father.

What MIGHT work is if Anakin get's kidnaped, and the clone stands infor awhile, learning from Obi-Wan...Then.....Na that wouldn't work either.

Hopefully Anakin will embrace the Dark side before being mutilated. Im hoping that Anakin kills dooku, and takes his place by palpatine, yet maitain his position among the jedi so that he may betray them later. Kind of like how dooku had a sith identity and an ex-jedi identity. then, at a crucial moment in the clone-wars, anakin/vader will just flatten the jedi. I mean this should be the best action sequence in the series. Just an overpowering, brutal and unmerciful carnage that will cement Anakin/vader as the most powerful/evil force weilder. Of course the downfall of such a scenario would be: how does obi wan (far inferior to anakin, not to mention dooku) cripple vader if he's so
