Obviously George Lucas was preoccupied with how to tie live actors and special effects together while shooting in a new medium to direct the acting. The acting suffered as a result. You can't fix bad acting in an editing computer.

Hopefully for Episode Three he will do what he did in Empire and Jedi and turn over the the reigns to an accomplished director while he focuses on the big picture. My votes would be for Chris Nolan (Memento, Insomnia) or the Wakowski Brothers (The Matrix) or Bryan Singer (Usual Supsetcs, The Matrix).

As for script writing, just because we know how it ends doesn't mean Ep 3 can surprise us with twists and turns, my vote for scriptwriter would be Chris McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects).

As Harrison Ford on told Lucas on set: 'You can type this shit George, but you can't say it'.

Episode two case and point, amazing effects but no soul. Fans deserve

Peter Jackson, as he is obviously the best director working today.

Would be interesting to see what the Coens would make of Ep3. Or maybe Fincher.

Sorry, but I'm too young to have followed the Ford/Lucas stories, but did Harrison Ford really say this? Thats pretty awesome if he did because its the truth. Lucas had a great concept but when he's in charge completely he sure can screw everything up.

My vote for next director is 'anybody but lucas'.

Director - Spielberg. Lucas can afford it Writer - Shaymalan (6th sense, Signs) Guinness was reported to have said to Lucas at one point when faced with some painful dialogue, 'Can't the lizard say this?'

Hell I could write better than EP2. 'I am haunted by the kiss I should never have given you' 'I just hope that kiss doesn't become a scar'.

Redeem Jarjar, don't demean him. Have an attempt on Padme's life. Have Jarjar and 2 guards capture one of the would be assassins. Have Jarjar tell the guards to go and make sure Padme is all right.

Jarjar- Yousa go an see ifa the Senator is Okeeday. Locka us in and cumma back when yousa can. Weesa be okeeday. Guard - You sure you want to be alone with him, Senator Binks' Jarjar - Weesa be justa fine. Guards leave. Jarjar turns on the now disarmed assassin. His eyes narrow and his jaw sets. Jarjar - Now eesa crunchin' time. As the guards move down the corridor we hear furniture crashing behind the locked door.

Later the guards return, open the door and find the room a shambles. The assassin is sprawled on the floor. Binks comes to the door.

Guard - Are you all right. Jarjar - Meesa superokeeday. He smiles showing the loss of one front tooth.

It aint that freakin hard.

If he's still alive, Irvin Kershner would be good.

Spielberg? Are you insane? Ugly things are supposed to happen in Ep3, the darkest hours of Star Wars. If he gave it to Spielberg, Steven would add another bunch of annoying kids to the film. David Fincher is an obvious candidate, so is Ridley Scott. But before Spielberg gets to make it I'd rather choose David Lynch. It would be kind of strange... but better than Spielberg.
