Its true that I am probably the only one in the world yet that hasn’t had the Pleasure of seeing the Dark Knight. I do know a lot about the movie however, because I have read several reviews and like the most of the world am aware of the death of Heath Ledger and the supposed influence his role in the film played in his early demise.
Sadly, I am sure that whole sensation (I am using that word for the lack of others) surrounding his death did much for the box office sales,.
That is the kind of statement you can’t make with 100% certainty, maybe it would have been a box office hit with him alive as well, and then again, maybe not.

Stephanie from Closet Sci - Fi Geek did an interesting post on the Dark Knight, and the question Is it the Best film ever comparing it to other movies, especially Matrix saying

The Matrix made me reevaluate my relationship to the world. It reminded me that the world is really just a temporary illusion, a brief stopping point in the eternity beyond.

In comparison to that feeling, my feelings upon leaving The Dark Knight were, “That was really good, but I doubt I’ll ever want to see it again.”

I am not sure that wanting to see a movie again or not would constitute as a point in whether it is the best movie ever…

For example The most powerful movie I ever saw was a a Peter Greenaway Movie called The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, and I never ever want to see it again! At least that is what I thought until I started writing this post, when I read the wiki entry for the movie

This film is a black comedy, known for its depiction of frontal nudity as well as its lavish and often breathtaking cinematography and formalism.

I had no Idea it was a comedy. I noticed the black part at the time and the breathtaking cimenatography and formalism but not the comedy part.

Maybe I sould see it again as it has been some twenty years since the fist viewing.
Anyway, I digress.
My Point is that The Best Movie Ever - A nonexist in my opinion, would have to be very influencial in ones life - even life changing in a way, but not nessiarily a experience one would want to repeat.

I do agree about Matrix being a great movie, from all standpoints, those Stephanie mentioned as well as others, proof of which is the influence it has had on other movies and Television series… You can see Matrix everywhere you look. The other night I was watching Moonlight, and there was a reference to Matrix and the ability to see a bullet flying and to duck…

The funniest Matrix influence that I have ever seen to date is this
