Will be to make Episode 4 seem like a sequel to it. Considering at the time Episode 4 was probably intended to be a complete standalone, that may be a bit difficult.

'Ramen 'Clever Subname' Junkie'

When 'StarWars : episode IV : A New Hope' was first run in the cinema, it did not have an episode number, Fox had GL remove the reference. However, as soon as the box office figures came in it was decided to replace the original text, as intended. Fox at the time were unsure about the success and did not want to risk a film that seemed so incomplete at the time. When the text as intended was replaced later in 1977 the Press jumped on this and asked when the next film would begin shooting...

Due to the time limits (and Fox advising GL has was now severly over-budget) a lot of the film was trimmed down, although some has re-appeared in the SE. However, there is still a lot of sequences that can now be completed, as GL stated at the time the technology was just simply not available and what they had was experimental.

Even now when you compare epI and epII it is still evolving...

I'd love it if you see at the end of Episode 3 we see Darth Vader after Leia and the film ends, like episode one starts, but like with most of the films will have to fill in the details ourselves!

Yeah. Honestly there feels like there will need to be 2 films in there to get things working. Especially since a '30 years later' tag would be REALLY out of place.

Well, there's no tags at the start of the other movies.

There will probably be a twenty year gap between episodes III and IV. The twins will be born at the end of III.

If we know that Luke Skywalker is Anakin's son's name, then it will soon be apparent how long it has been. Plus they could show some other things to make the time shift apparent. Like having Darth Vader an incomplete armour suit in Ep III, and having the Death star incomplete (ala ROTJ - a good little link between the third installments of each trilogy) Someone could inform the Emperor that it will take a long time to complete. ETC.

It takes them 20 years to build the original death star? The second one is built in like a year.

He will add a few things to Episode IV to better tie it in with the PT and also to show that the rebels didn't win so comprehensively as they thought (other than the fact the Emperor wasn't killed and neither was Darth) - an alternate (well, additional) ending, showing Vader standing with Sidious saying they will have revenge.

Go ahead 'Soulman', make my day...

I think it should be called Dude, Where's My Apprentice? as Obi-Wan searches the galaxy for Anakin only to discover that he has become Darth Vader.

I don't remember the movies saying that construction of the second one only began after the first one was blown up. I can't speak for the books though. Maybe construction of the second Death Star began at the same time as (or slightly after) the first one. I do recall many references to the project being considered seriously 'behind schedule'.

So how many Death Stars would you need?

In the PC game 'Rebellion' I found that a Death Star constructed in each Planetary system was a big enough threat to keep the planets' loyalty in line and the tractor beam capabilities allowed for more capture of Rebels, more espionage information etc.

How many nuclear missles does anyone need? Probably not 60,000 but at one point in the cold war...
