Howdy all!

I just watched AOTC for the first time today.. Yoda rocks like a gremlin on speed!

Now.. is it just me or am I right in thinking that Senator Palpatine is the Emporer - the cloaked dude we saw talking to Dooku at the end of the movie..

I have heard rumours that Palpatine becomes the Emporer.. maybe these are true?

This would mean that both sides of this war - Republic and Separatists - have been created by Palpatine..

But some questions:

1) How come no one got suspicious when Obe Wan waltzed up to the planet Jenga was on with the clone army? He pretty much admitted he didn't know wtf was going on and they still treated him like someone in authority.. Not one single 'driver's licence and fingerprint please'..

2) Who was this Jedi Lord that supposedly put in the order for the clone army? When Obi Wan got there they said they had been waiting for ten years for him to show.. so what - they worked without being paid for the contract? They trusted a client that never shows up?

3) Was Dooku a senator or something? Why did I get the impression Yoda thought he was dead..

4) If Palpatine is the emporer, how come no Jedi sensed the Dark Side in him?

5) What is this whole war about anyway? Why do the Separatists want to be separate?

Lots of questions!

Rob

'Robert Mark Bram'

Although the Kaminoans do not have direct contact with the Galactic Republic, almost every system in the Galaxy knows a Jedi when they see one (Jedi on Tatooine, which is not represented either).

Obi-Wan did not openly show he knew nothing, he was simply using their lack of knowledge to his advantage. 'Jedi Master, we have been expecting you'... It is only when discussing the matter further with Lama Su that the matter of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas comes up (the discussion between Jocasta Nu and Obi-Wan about this in the Jedi Library has been cut from the film). All the Kaminoans knew was that a Jedi would return, no timescale was metioned was it? All they say is that Sifo-Dyas placed the order 10 years ago.

Count Dooku was a member of the Jedi Council, but left prior to TPM (epI) along with 19 other Jedi , ie 'the lost 20'. This discussion was removed from the film, but will be re-inserted in the future, to keep the suspense for epIII otherwise an important phrase will be leaked.

'The darkside clouds everything'. Basically, the Jedi cannot and are unable to feel a Dark Lord of the Sith. Remember, what Lord Vader says in ANH (epIV). 'The last time I felt him (Obi-Wan) was in the presence of my own master'. So Vader wasn't all bad...

The whole war is about one persons path to power... Palpatine shows Queen Amidala how corrupt the system is. In fact he is just as corrupt himself, but uses it to advantage as he is able to use both sides to progress his final aim. The Separatists are basically a load of commercial companies that gain sales from selling to both sides. It is this corruption that sets the whole Galaxy fighting against itself in effect! An example is Mon Calamari which has a Senator on the Galactic Senate, but also on the Separitists. The final wedge in the Galactic Senate is the division between those seeking a diplomatic solution (the Loyalist Committee of which Amidala, Organa, Jedi, etc are members) and those willing to support the Vice Chairman. This is the problem that faces JarJar Binks in the film, should he support the call for the Army or remain Loyal....

I think we have to start trying to identify the other 19. I'll start and please add to the list until we have a comprehensive summary of 'The Lost 20':

I would disagree - ObiWan got the lead because of the dart Jango Fett used to kill the shape shifting assasin. Seems like a convoluted chain of events to give a lead.

Especially because if the clone army had not been discovered by Obi Wan and brought by Yoda, Vietnam Air-calvary style - to the rescue, the Jedi would have been wiped out in Ep II instead of III. Then Palpatine could say the Republic was in grave danger and so would purchase a mighty clone army from a supplier that just happened to have one in inventory to do battle against the Roger Roger robots.

Couldn't there have been a large deposit or even payment in full upfront? Or are Jedi just good for it?
