Question about battle of Endor

Having been in several discussions about Star destroyers over the years, I learned that because some one spotted a star destroyer that 'looks' different, the Empire jammed the rebels using this special Star Destroyer. However, since no clear picture has ever been produced from any source, this seems to be fan speculation - although a jamming ship is mentioned in the ROTJ novel.

But if the jamming came from the shield generator, then its destruction makes more sense as to why they knew the shield went down

Their sensors can read it. The shield radiates unusual energy. (not getting technical with you) Just like in the games: if you're in a dogfight you can read the shield percentage of all craft in the area.

However, Lando thought the reads were weird and order evaisve manuvers.

Nein Numb - 'Blah blah blah (were being jammed)'

Lando - 'But how could they be jamming us if they don't know if were coming here.' break off the attack the shield is still up.

Wedge - ' I get no reading are you sure?'

Lando - 'Pull up, all craft pull up!'
