POV from a mom...

First of all, I am just crushed. I'm mad. I feel cheated!

I have been thinking how much of a genius G. Lucas is to have come up with this simple tale, begin in the middle, and tell a story through so many years. What vision!

I am 34 years old, and I grew up thinking there were 9 episodes. I've seen new meaning in Ep. 4-6 while watching them with my kids, to get them ready for Ep. 1-2, and crucial to that was the concept of the 9-part story.

For him to take 3 of them away from me is just wrong.

One of the reasons GL said he'd not do another 3 eps was that Han, Luke, Leia, et al, would all be too old, then begins the discussion of digital actors, etc. Horsefeathers, I say!

Doesn't the current trilogy of prequels take us up to 18 years before 'A New Hope?' To give L&L time to grow up, supposedly. GL can take 7-9 to whatever time he wants to (and I had been under the impression he wrote the whole story, from 1-9, before he began filming 4) and start them with new characters, relating them back to all those we've seen before.

Look, I'm no SW insider, as many of you can probably tell (there are probably many articles out there that can explain this to me, and I just haven't found them yet). I don't read the Expanded Universe. But there are many of us out there, I would think, who have had a big part of their childhood broken a little.

GL *could* do this if he so chose.

I'm sure his sole intent was to deprive you of any fulfillment in life.

I realize that my info was 25 years old, and wrong, apparently. My point was that there are many of us who probably grew up thinking the same way, and since we didn't become SW addicts, we never found out the truth until the other day.

My post was intended to show that point of view...so I expected to get flak from the more informed of you, and maybe some feedback from those of you who may have been similarly disillusioned.

He decide to take 7-9 and cram it all into 6. He had to change quite a few things to accomplish this, but that is what he did and that is why there will be no 7-9.

He doesn't choose to.

Fact still remains: it's important to know when to end a story.

Aaah. but there is money to be made... give it 10 years or so... Wait til GL dies and star wars 7,8 and 9 will be back like a long lost beatles recording
