I think she was supposed to be 16 in Phantom Menace [youngest Naboo queen ever elected] and Anakin was 10. So, he's 20 or 21 now, and she's 6 years older than he is. No big deal.

Yeah, I remember her not being _that_ much older than Anakin but I couldn't remember the numbers.

I just saw the movie again today, and, oops- I heard it wrong the first time. Padme says: 'I'm not the *youngest* queen elected, but....' Still, she couldn't have been more than 18 in Phantom Menace. Even if Anakin was only 8 at the time, this is 10 years later. So, you'd have an 18 year old male with a 26 or 28 year old female. eh. Anakin looks about 20 in this movie while Padme hasn't aged. go figure.
um- why is she refered to as Queen Amidala and now Senator Anidala, when her family name is.... I'm drawing a blank here. 'N' something. Anyway- why the different surname??

just about the age think.... in the phantom menace, anakin was 9 and amidala was 14... making them now 19 and 24...its not that unbelievable

14? She was THAT young?? Hmmm. I was thinking she was 16, maybe 18. 'NOT the youngest queen ever elected....' Aparently there's no minimum age requirement for elected royalty- but how'bout the Senate?

Actial she was suppose to be 14; but Portman was 17-18 at the time so they had to dress her down alittle. And she was not the youngest queen elected (small refference made to that in Clones). Anakin was 9 or 10.

My cousin Jen married a guy 5 years younger then her when she was 26-27. They have a pretty good marrage.
