Not according to the first day's measly 30 million compared to Spidey's 39 million! Dan, who will admit that in the long run Star Wars will probably generate the largest revenue.

I think people wanted to see Spiderman more because he was pretty much the last comic book character left to be made into a movie. Also, word got out that it was a really good movie so everyone flocked to the theatres. I for one have always been a fan of the Spiderman comic, and I was really happy to see that the movie was outstanding. One could also say that America was looking for a hero post 9-11 to see on the big screen.

There's also the fact that Spider-Man opened on a friday and AoTC on a thursday and on fewer screens.

Not that I care about box office totals But I saw on TV a Thursday 30 mil opening is unheard of, Spiderman opened up on a Friday when kids could go see it at night hence the bigger numbers. At least thats what they said on Tech TV.

As a person who has seen both films, I finD AOTC to be superior, Spiderman was amazing right up to the point where the green goblin comes on screen, he looks rediculous!! Like an extra from Power Rangers, it spoilt the film for me, toby Maguire (sp?) was VERY good though, and I was sceptical of him!

Regardless of how much $$$$$$$ the two films make, for me, comparing them in terms of entertainment value is like apples and oranges.
