Obi Wan and Old Ben

Long time lurker first time writer. Not sure if it's been mentioned before but do you think we will be told why Obi Wan changes his name to Old ben in EpIII?

I always imagined he changed his name to Ben so nobody would know who he was - quite a subtle change, but hey, seemed to work!

I think he changed his name to Old Ben because he pretty much gave up being a Jedi, due to the fact that he was a total loser as a Jedi. See my post titled OBI-WAN:keystone cop of all Jedi. I mean if your Padawan became the galaxies most fearful tyrant you'd run and hide too right?

^^^^^^^^^^ A minor point, but he didn't change his name to '_Old_ Ben.'

Luke called him, 'Old Ben,' but I'm sure that if there was any documentation, it merely said 'Ben.'

Likewise, if he met a pretty female [insert species, etc. 'here'], he *didn't* introduce himself thusly,

'Hey, baby, I'm *Old* Ben. Gimme some sugar!'

I assume you do not have any children, _right_?

i always thought maybe Ben was his name before he was a jedi. i dont really follow the fan fiction though, i tend to stick to what George Lucas wrote.
