So it was totally unnecessary to show Luke and Leia's parents falling in love? Whatever. I suppose it would've been better to show them already married. Whatever.

If the story was only about the rise of the Empire and the Anakin/Vader thing was just a subplot then maybe... but the story *is* about Anakin becoming Darth Vader and the bad things that happen to the people who love him... that's why i think it was essential.
