so how about when obi-wan was trying to convince yoda to train luke and then says i was like him when you trained me. (paraphrase)

so who trained him Qui Gon or Yoda???

then obi wan is talking to Luke about Anakin and says he was already a experienced pilot when i met him ( doesn't follow meeting in Episode one)

whenever Luke and Darth Vader get near each other they always feel a strange stirring in the force. when they are roasting qui-gon at the end of Ep 1 the evil emperor in the guise of Palaptine is right there with Yoda, Mace Winu and Obi Wan, what were they all stoned??? that was the most evil of all evil (force wise) and they didn't have a clue.

epsisode four c3po and r2d2 just crashed landed, why is c3po bemoaning being on the cursed planet and not knowing where he is, instead of saying, 'well i guess that i am home'

why didn't qui-gons body disapear like yoda's and Obi wan's

And really off the deep end...........I think that qui-gon let darth maul kill him. he felt so strongly about anakin being the chosen one and the jedi council had already told him that anakin would not be trained, it was only a death bed promise between obi-wan and Qui-gon that convinced yoda to let Anakin be trained

From what I understand, Yoda teaches all new jedis, then another master takes over to complete the training. I've also read somewhere that in EpIII, Yoda teaches Obi-Wan the disapear-when-you-die skill.

Perhaps he was talking about piloting the pod racer?

Perhaps Darth Sidious is using some dark force trick to conceal his presence. Or maybe Palpatine is NOT Darth Sidious. There's a big debate about this over at TheForce.net's forums. It's not entirely impossible that Palpatine is a clone of Sidious, and once the Empire is created, he has Palpatine eliminated and takes his place as Emperor.

Lucas said in an interview that R2D2 & C3PO have their memories wiped for some yet to be explained reason.

Again, this seems to be a skill that has to be taught.

That's an interesting thought, but I feel he would have trained Anakin himself, despite the objections of the council anyway.

I feel like screaming.

Go watch AOTC to find out about Qui Gon Who knows about Yoda. Whoever trained him is long dead.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (I'm screaming now)

Nope they didn't. With Luke and Vader, they expected each other most of the time. It's like the scene in AOTC when Anakin is sensing the surroundings in Padme's room. It isn't something that is 'on' all the time. He has to direct it. Yoda can't go around testing everyone in the galaxy to make sure they are not a Sith Lord and he didn't have any reason to suspect Palpatine (yet).

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I swear on all that is holy and sacred, if I hear this one more time I am going to go grab a gun and take out my local grocery store.

Who knows? There are theories about how Qui-gon did not die peacefully or that he died before his work was finished, but GL gave us a hint by something Obi-wan says in ANH when he is facing down Vader.

Uuhhhhh! That theory is right up there with Qui Gon being evil and conspiring to kill Darth Maul so that he can become a Sith Lord next to Dooku or something.

Honestly though, all of these questions could have been answered by reading the other posts in here or rewatching the movies. I normally don't respond but for hell sake, this is getting old. Have people been asking some of these questions in this newsgroup for years and I just am now seeing the pattern? A question dies down after about 100,000,000 people ask it and then about 3 months later it is picked back up.

Yeesh! Take it easy. The Usenet is open to all - even newbies. He did state that he was 'new here'. Not everyone who uses the Internet know about the Google archives. Some questions will be asked over and over again, but so what? You're not forced to read them, especially if you are warned in the subject line of the post.

It is called being courteous by waiting and watching (aka lurking). Its what most people do before they jump in and ask the same question. I don't even use the google archives (don't even know how) but at least I wait and watch. I'll bet I can find some of these question's answered more than 100 times just by reading the messages that have been posted over the last week from outlook express.

So if you're waiting at a bus stop, and someone comes along and asks you what time the bus arives, do you get annoyed and tell them to read the posted sign? Personally, I'd be 'courteous' and tell them the ETA of bus, then tell them about the sign for future reference.

'I cannot teach him. The boy has no patience.'

No, I wouldn't do that. But, if you walked in on a meeting that had already been going and brought a question that has been discussed a hundred times had you just looked around I think some of the people (especially those who answered those same questions the first hundred times) would be tired of hearing of it.

Furthermore, if this is your first time to the 'bus' stop I suggest you hang back and see how it works. Just wait one week and these questions will get asked several more times.

I found some interesting advice for new people to a newsgroup. I will post it although let me reaffirm that I am copying this information:

Suggestion#1: Lurk, watch, read other's messages and learn before jumping in. If you are new here, this will require a certain amount of restraint. Just relax, sit back, and pay attention. The guidelines are for the benefit of all. Most of all, you MUST learn to be patient.

Suggestion#2: BE PATIENT! The point is that, if you do not follow the FAQ, no one has to be patient with you. (I don't think the starwars newsgroup has a FAQ although someone started it up sometime ago)

Suggestion#3: Start small. Maybe ask one question and see how people respond. After you post, look to see if it showed up OK.

Suggestion#4: If it doesn't have anything to do with the topic of this newsgroup and you still want to post it, use 'OT' in your heading

Suggestion#5: Never post anything but messages in a non-binary group.

Some of it doesn't pertain to this newsgroup so much, but some of it does.

Depends on what type of meeting. If it's a small boardroom type meeting, then yes, I would wait until it was over and ask my question to someone who had been there the entire time. But Usenet is more like a huge convention that is continuously going on, with people dropping in and out all the time. This newsgroup in particular has several thousand new posts in any given week. It's a bit tedious reading each one for the information you seek. It's much quicker just to ask someone.

My favorite aspect of the Internet, is the almost instantaneous access to information. A week seems like forever on the Net. Also, asking someone at a bus stop for information has the added benefit of breaking into conversation with a complete stranger. I come to the Usenet to talk and discuss. If I want to read I go to the Web.

I didn't know this one - and I've been using the Usenet for over 6 years now. Even I'm still learning! (See the new subject line?)

Yes, these are all great suggestions. But newbies will be like young padiwans, and not trained in the ways of the Usenet.

I like to help whenever it's possible to easily do so. Making someone else's life easier by performing a task that requires little or no effort on my part, is a good deed I can't pass up.

I agree to some degree. Usenet is very informal, but isn't a bus station either. But that isn't your point is it? This all started because I voiced my opinion that some of the questions are really getting old.

I go to chat rooms to talk. I go to Usenet to see if there is anything interesting and find out information about a topic. We really need a FAQ for this group. Perhaps someone could set it up to repost daily.

haha. I'm not laughing at you but at myself. Of all of suggestions, I added that one after seeing a lot of people use it in several other newsgroups. It can be confusing here though since OT can also mean Old Trilogy. Its nice that way so if someone is just dying to tell everyone about something they can just put OT in the subject line.

Dido, I just get tired of some questions. Namely the following:

-Why didn't Qui Gon disappear? -Why didn't C3PO recognize Owen and/or Tattooine (vice versa)? -Did Dooku know about the clones? -Was Boba Fett the unaltered clone of Jango?

There are more, but I'll leave that to the inspired individual who creates the user-friendly FAQ

Go ahead 'Bigdawg', make my day...

Perhaps. Suggestions?

That's true. The FAQ is a big file though compared to regular posts and daily posting isn't really practical.

Rude? I don't see how. If people are not reading the FAQ because they find me rude and unfriendly then you are the first person to say it. If anybody reading this post feels the same way then I certainly want to know. I've been called fanboy and apologist but never rude. Still, one never sees oneself the way that others do.

Perhaps toning down the attitude of 'it's been done before'

I'm surprised you feel that way. If you take a look aroud the newsgroup today alone you'll find people engaged in flame wars over minor details such as whether it's spelled Sifo-Dyas or Sifer-Dias or whether AOTC is really as bad as TPM. My post was simply presenting the facts. You asked for an FAQ to be created. I replied that there has been one for a long time, told you when it is posted and gave you a URL for it. I have never been rude to anybody on this newsgroup and I have no attitude. It is not my practice to flame people for asking a question which is answered in the FAQ. I usually quote the AFS FAQ and provide the details of where they can find it. You'll find others here won't be so kind. That's not me being rude, that's just the way it is.
