Okay, today I finally saw AOTC. I was prepared for the worst due to all the negative reviews it got in this newsgroup and elsewhere.
So there I was in the (digital) theatre with an attitude like 'okay George, entertain me -it better be good'. And you know what, it WAS good. I had an excellent time watching AOTC!!! Starting with the chase through coruscant, I had that old childhood excitement I had when watching the old series.
Altough occasionaly the Anakin/Padmé story was a bit too gooey to watch, the 'I hate them all' discussion was very tense and eery. I think Hayden did a very good job in that scene. Overall, the way he wanted to be in control of things, because he was afraid to loose them was portrayed very well in the episode and it really makes the transition from Anakin to Darth Vader believable.
And you know what, I thought the Yoda/Dooku scene was very well executed as well, not in the least a 'cartoon' as some people described it.
There is sure much more to say about the film (and I *will* see it at least one more time) but I just wanted to let you know that it brought the old Star Wars excitement back in my blood and I hope that some of the critics out there give it another chance. No, it doesn't have the emotional impact of, say, Schindler's List, and sure, it has some flaws and people always find errors in films, but overall, it's just one hell of an exciting movie
Just my $0.02 for you!
