I don't think lucas should add more scenes in 4,5,6. They were good enough as they were. Adding new scenes 20 years later scemes to cheapen the movie for me. Anyone agree?

I absolutely agree with you. The original trilogy was a childhood favorite that would be cheapened by new scenes.

I wouldn't mind him updating them to fit in more with the capabilities of the latest CGI and even inserting some of the actors/races into the OT; however, the OT was not a childhood favorite for me. Furthermore, anyone who wants the originals can go buy them and they don't need to even own the updated OT. But I have a bad feeling that GL is going to only offer the OT on DVD after he has played around with them some more, so in that respect I do agree with you. It would be okay if all versions were available to the

I didn't like it when he inserted that Jabba scene in EP IV... that didn't look anything like Jabba in ROTJ. I did like, however, seeing the X-Wings flying toward the Death Star in that movie. That looked so much better than the original.

Yeah, I just saw ANH-SE yesterday and I really don't like Jabba being there... he's out of place and looks phony.

To me, the Jabba from ROTJ looks ridiciously fake. I actually liked the way they did him in ANH-SE (same as in TPM during the Podrace scene.)

I agree on the changes to the X-Wing battle. The CGI technology seems to work better with ships, etc, not so much with living creatures.
Two things he should DEFINITELY correct before releasing ANH again are the lightsaber battle between Obi-Wan and Vader. I still can't believe Lucas didn't catch and fix that scene where Ben's lightsaber is pointed at the camera and you can tell it's just a glow-rod. Both Ben's and Vader's sabers need to be redone.
Second, Han tells Luke that he 'knows a few manuvers', but in the next scene, both the Falcon and Star Destroyer are flying in a straight line. He should take that out and replace them with CGI ships where the Falcon is doing a lot more manuvering.
As far as adding even more new scenes, he should put the Biggs scene back in and give us a choice between original, special, or ulimate editions via seamless branching.

You'll have to convince him that the only reasons the fans want to see the original versions is so we can remind ourselves how awful they are compared to George's Ultimate Editions thanks to the fact that the studio (rather than he) controlled the purse strings back in 1977 and he didn't have the clout back then to force every artistic decision to go his way. Convince him that people will be that much more grateful for Lucas advancing the art of CGI and the True Star Wars According To Lucas if they have the crappy '20th Century Fox's Cut' versions to compare them with side by side.
