I finally got the chance to catch Maryland's only digital showing of AOTC at the Crown Theaters in Annapolis Mall last night. What an amazing presentation it was. The trailers for MIB2, Goldmember and The MATRIX 2&3 looked incredible too.

No noticeable artifacts in the picture at all. The only thing that did not look good in digital were the white subtitles

Or for my Virginianers, Merrifield Cinema in Falls Church has the only digital screen in VA. And yes it is spectacular!

Do you happen to know what sort of digital projector this theatre is using?

I've seen it on both film and digital and noticed no particular difference. I lucked out with a very clean print on film; no normal wear and tear as of the time I saw it. The digital showing I saw was with TI's DPL projection. I'm wondering if there's a quality difference between DPL and other types of projection?

According to the kickass advertisement for the projection system, it was the IT DPL. I'm hoping the management allows a tour of the projection booth. When I saw SW Special Edition being shown at the Sony Theaters in Calverton, MD the manager showed me how they could show one print of the movie in 2 adjacent theaters...at the SAME time. That was the last time I was amazed when going to a theater.
