I think this will be the big suprise in Ep 3... Notice that when the council wanted Jango captured alive to question about what is going on, Mace was more than willing to kill him, so as to keep him silent. Also, he was quick to agree with Palpatine about Padme going to Naboo...thus keeping her away from the vote. Also, Palpatine himself is a clone of Sidius, that is why the Jedi can't sense any Dark Side in him. Wacha think?

Mace killed Jango because the bounty hunter was trying to kill Padme and during the battle, was potentially trying to kill any and all of the Jedi, Mace included. It was a simple matter of self-defense. No big conspiracy.

Only two sith can there be a master, and an apprentice, hence Mace is not a sith, Palpatine isnt a clone.
