What it his plan all the time to do IV to VI and then go back to do I to III, with III being a huge blockbuster finalé? Or did he originally think only Iv to Vi would make decent films?

From what I remember reading long ago...IV thru VI were done first because there was more action. I liked TPM, but could you imagine if that was released in '77? I doubt II would ever have been made.

he ep4 because it was the only chapter that could be made into an effective stand alone. The orginal plan was to make 1 movie and hope to break even....I guess the plan didn't work <g>...

Ya as my dad told me Star Wars originally didn't say Episode 4 a new hope it just said star wars. George wrote a big story and decided that he couldn't make it all so he had the back story then big battle at the end but couldn't do it all in one film so he just made what he could, by starting in the middle. When the money rolled in he decided he'd make 6 episodes and called Star Wars Episode 4 and changed it on the video release or possibly the second release in the theatres. Maybe he bit off more than he could chew since it took him friggin over 13 years to make a new one.
