Lucas must have lost his mind........

Well, I just got back from AOTC and I must say I was somewhat disappointed.....

While it had some good points (Yoda battle, Obi-Wan vs. Jengo Fett, asteroid chase), overall I felt the film dragged slowly for the first half. Also, the constant shifting of scenes became frustrating.

Like others have said, the acting is rather wooden, except for Ewan McGregor who did a decent job. I cant blame the actors though....Lucas has final say for every take and he is to blame. The dialogue can be rather cheesy at times, but once again the only one to blame is Lucas for this.

I think Lucas has become a little too comfortable in his middle age to make daring & thrilling movies like the original trilogy. He has focused too much on CGI to carry a film - which is quite impressive - but cant be the central point of a good film. He also tries to appeal to too many audiences - goofy lines for the kids, romance for the ladies, and saber duels for the guys.

Maybe I need to sleep on this for a few days and re-evaluate the movie but overall it left a stale taste in my mouth. Is there any hope for EP 3??

Well, let's see, in Ep 3 should be fairly dominated by the clone war, Ani turning to the darkside and killing Amidala (after the birth of the twins of course,) wiping out all or most of the Jedi and having his final duel with Obi Wan before finally becoming the masked man we all know and love. So, there shouldn't be too much time for fart jokes or lovey dovey in the next one.

(at least we can hope.)

And for the record- the movie is much better the second time around.

You are deluding yourself. AOTC had action all the way through.

Who's wooden? I didn't find any of the performances to be wooden. I think you are reacting to the fact that the characters themselves are senators and upstanding Jedi. I mean, we're not dealing with a rogue smuggler and a stuck-up princess; we're dealing with a prima donna and a virgin.

Go watch Ep 1 again, I have never had so much fun with it before, Ep2 makes it undertandable more, and just gives it a better feel. Lucus has obviously planned this...or fluked it...heh heh

Anakin killing Amidala? I thought she would survive and be exiled. Didn't Leia remember her mother as being a sad person etc in ESB? Is there any new information on this?

So, this is the first SW movie you have ever seen? Re-watch the others and see if they have constantly shifting scenes, wooden acting, cheesy dialogue, and an appeal to too many audiences with goofy lines, romance and sabre duels.

How DARE he make the movie like the other 4? What was he THINKING? That those others were a SUCCESS? Didn't he learn that that type of spaghetti western set in space is just a money loser? Don't the revenues from Ep 4-5-6 and 1 prove that he should change his ways? Why on EARTH would he keep pumping out this schmaltz when it's SO obvious that NONE of us like anything he has done before?

Jeepers... what does George think? That we are going to the theatre to be ENTERTAINED for a few hours??

Hell no they don't thought ROTJ and TPM clearly started us on the road to hell. Star Wars was frigging nominated for Best Picture - you think goofy lines and wooden acting and dialogue get that type of attention?

I wish he'd make a GOOD one.

He's riding the wave of popularity from the first 3 movies...if this movie had renamed actors and didn't say Star Wars it would be straight to video...

what movie were you watching? All I saw was anikan whining about everything being unfair and he should get to wear big boy pants and why can't padme feel the same way waah waah waah. I never thought anything would take 'I was going to go into tosche station to pick up some power converters' away from the whineyist bitch line in the series.
