Oh my god, you're right I didn't see that bit.
'Star Wars, premiered in 1979, with sequels and prequels to follow, and is surely the basis for the recent movie and book, The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien.'
NEWSFLASH:
LOTR was released in the 50's!!!! Recent book and movie?!?!!? Oh my. So uninformed. Tolkien's been dead for over 10 bloody years!!! And to say that LOTR was based on Star Wars... Somebody dismember this walking piece of shit... please. Abuse and torture him as he'd like to do to his daughters.

{snip a whole bunch of christian garbage}
Who says the christian beliefs are the only 'truths'? Or that they are truths at all? As far as I am concerned Christianity is exactly the farce you mentioned. The church itself not only harbors but aids and abeds criminals, many who are priests themselves and are perpetrating crimes against our own children. Not to mention the multitudes that populate the bench seats every sunday from the lecherous husband to the promiscuous wife to the Mafia hitman who come seeking forgiveness for their DAILY sins. I see the churches truths in a far different light, as I am not blinded by the empty hopes that if i suffer enough in the name of GOD, that better things await me in the next life.
I hate to tell you, but anyone who loves these books the way we do is WELL aware of the christian influences that are woven into the tale, and we have had many discussions about it here and elsewhere. You seem to be the only one surprised by this fact. Enjoying Tolkiens story has little to do with any religious needs, that is entirely in your own mind.As far as I go, the only void in my heart is the one that christianity left by failing to satisfy and just plain disgusting me with its double standards, and maybe christianity is in need of a 'glorious comeback' for a reason, though i doubt it will see one the way it treats its flock.
I had best shut up before I get really pissed off, as I am tired of being force fed someone elses 'ideals'

You've obviously thought about this a lot and have drawn a lot of parallels between your faith and these films. If that helps you with your 'problems' I think that's great.
1977, actually as this is the 25th anniversary.
He doesn't just draw from the Christian mythos. He also draws from Eastern religions, Greek dramas and (some would say) just about every great and not so great movie of the last 75 years.
I've never understood the term 'Christian Values'. Most world religions hold exactly the same values as Christianity. In fact, most Agnostics, Atheists, Polytheists and Pagans hold the same values. I know you use this phrase coming from a Christian background, so I don't hold its use against you, but as a non-Christian I take offence to this phrase. It suggests that if I'm not a member of the 'club', then I must think it's okay to kill, steal and screw around on my partner. I'd suggest re-wording this part if it is to be read by non-Christians. Otherwise, a very well thought out

Why don't you just admit that the reason your attracted to LOTR and AOTC is the strong homo-erotic undercurrent thats prevalent throughout.

I don't think that many of you recognize satire when you see it, especially the people whom the word 'Christianity' makes froth at the mouth and obscenities spew forth (see below). Who says that only Christians are lacking in a sense of humour? The best Christians that I know of would laugh heartily at this piece and probably post it on a bulletin board at church for all to share.
'Much of the same sort of talk can still be heard among the orc-minded; dreary and repetitive with hatred and contempt, too long removed from good to retain even verbal vigour, save in the ears of those to whom only the squalid sounds strong.'

Come on you people. This has GOT to be a joke, or jsut some TROLL who are trying to get some attention. It is really too far out and too filled with stupid errors (Java the Hutt, the Emperor Dark Vader, Frodo dies for the ring etc.) to be real. This is the kind of stuff it would do 5 years ago and send it to the local priest just to get a reaction (yeah I know it is sad). And if you wanted to provoke three groups of people at the same time, then why not pick Tolkien-maniacs, Star-Wars-fanatics and Christians? They all got at least semi-religious relationships with their respective topics, why they are easier to provoke. I really think this is just a lame joke, but I this should really turn out to be real, then I guess I'm just even more happy to live in a part of Europe where The Enlightenment actually had something to say.
Greetings,

<snip looooong bit of rather funny & dark satire>
Hehehe, that was funny, if a little scary (some people *really* have too much time on their hands!) I wasn't 100% sure it was a joke, though, until I read this bit: 'In the Phantom Menace surely the best Star Wars movie of them all'. That had me rolling in the aisles.

How gay are Sam and Frodo?
And in Star Wars, since it is C3P0 who is the 'camp' one, isn't it 'Robo-Erotic'? like in Futurama?

Seriously, dude, have you read a religion-based newsgroup or letters to the newspaper editor on similar topics?
If the above piece WAS a 'troll', it was frighteningly close to the truth. Try reading any groups about evolution. WOW. So many wackjobs. A ratio of about 50 wackos to every sane, questioning person.
As much as I dislike organised religion, it must be noted that most Christians only want to live a 'moral' life (and afterlife I suppose).
