Is this silly or what?

Hi!!! This is my first post so please be gentle

I love star wars but I don't understand something. How can characters like anakin, vader, owen, and c3po not know each other in the first movies? they met on tatooine so it seems like they would all recognize each other, no? Also, how is it that c3po and r2d2 don't know where they are in the first star wars movie when they crash land on tatooine? c3po was made there and lived there for along time so he should remember his home!! Am I missing anything??

1. as we can see C3PO is not the smartest droids in the universe... best sum up by his quote 'I am so confused'... he didnt even know what planet he landed on at the beginning of ANH

2. there are millions of C3PO look at like in the SW universe... we saw some at the beginning of EP1... some at the beginning of EP4.. more in EP5 (the most famous one is in cloud city)... of course we know who C3PO is... cause he is one of our friend that travel with our heros... but he is just another droid to all other SW characters... that explain why people may not remember who that heck is that talkative droid... in addition, C3PO (and R2D2) is just a model number... more or less like F-14 or 747 to us... so it wont mean anything special to anyone in star wars universe

3. at the beginning of ANH, Vader was right above his home planet... and he didnt show any sign of 'Oh, home sweet home'... so I believe, after he joined the darkside, somehow he have to (or forced to) give up everything in his past... his wife, his childhood, everything he like and treasure... but all the pain in his past (that's why he is so angry with Obiwan in EP4)...C3PO is part of his happy childhood, something he have to give up for darkside... and for reason 2, he may not pay special attention to that golden droid

that's my 2 cents... and i think everything make sense... watch EP4 again.. you will know what i mean

The droids would have had their memories wiped at some point in the past . Although it still doesn't justify why a HUMAN BEING ( Uncle Owen ) is unnable to put two and two together and realise that the two droids ( incidentally STILL called Artoo Detoo and See Threepio ) are the same 2 droids he met 20 years ago, and concidering 3P0 LIVED with Owen, Shmi etc , the mind boggles. Others on this newsgroup would have you believe otherwise, but let's be realistic here for ONCE ! The droids had the same friggin names , Owen MUST have heard Luke call them by them at least once .

Not to mention, that he (Owen) wanted their memories erased ... and it sounded like it should be done ASAP.

Yeah - in EP4 R2 tells 3PO that he knows wich way to go. Well, 3PO says something like 'How do you know wich way to go? - and gets angry and walks the other way.

so c3p0s memory could of been wiped, doesnt explain owen not recognising him tho, maybe later in life he has an accident and loses his memory its only a film tho damnit!

I think owen does remember Lukes father, Anakin, in ANH. We see owen discrediting obi-wan as 'a crazy old man', then when luke questions whether he knew his father owen gets very agitated and says 'I told you to forget it'. Later obi-wan tells luke about owen not agreeing with Anakins ideals etc... Sounds like there will be more to come between Anakin and owen in epIII.
