It seems like it should be obvious, but it's never brought up. How in the world can C3P0 not know who vader was? I mean vader _made_ C3PO! And how can Vader not know who C3P0 is either? It doesn't make sense! Does anyone else think that lucas will need to clear this up in the next

Something else ... R2D2 and 3PO might have had there memory erased, becuse no information had to be comprimised when Luke and Leia was born? Vader does not know anything about Leia before Episode 6!

I don't think R2D2's memory was erased.
In ANH, Leia gives the design of the Death Star to R2, with instructions to deliver to Obi Wan. Once on Tatooine, R2 knows exactly where to go.
Upon first ANH encounter with Obi Wan, he says he doesn't recall owning a droid. Well, he never owned R2 !! Padme and then Leia did. With the information we know have from the prequels, we realise that R2 has been near the center of action and always with Padme and later, Leia. Is it possible that R2 had been left to monitor Leia ? While Obi Wan was on Tatooine to keep an eye on Luke ?
Food for thought.

Also, how come C3PO has no recollection that he has been in the Lars home before, that he has met Owen Lars, that he has in fact worked on moisture vaporators before?
