Hex Appeal

hexThere are two type of good books - the ones which are really good fiction and a good read as well and because of that, and the ones that are just a good gripping read - a good story, with good storytelling.

It depends on where my mood and my mind are, I usually like to alternate them, because I have a hard time departing from the heavies..I carry them around in my mind and in my heart for a while until I have fully processed them and then I can make room for the next heavy book.

In that processing time, the best type of book for me is the light good story. A book you can swallow up, usually in on session, and it leaves you with a sense of yum, for lack of better description.
These books are also good for tiding one over intence periods in life when the brain is otherwise ocupied with life and has no room for thoughful books.
Linda Wisdom’s Jazz Tremain books seem like the perfect kind of Light book.
SQT posted a great review of hex Appeal, the second in the Jazz Tremain books.
Here is the excerpt that caught my attention

But being a 700+ (she’ll never tell the exact number) year-old witch means that a girl is bound to make enemies. It starts with a dream that is so real Jazz is convinced Nick bit her and it scares her something awful. But it isn’t until Jazz begins having more frequent dreams of becoming mortal that she realizes someone has put a hex on her. And that’s not her only problem; someone has framed her carnivorous bunny slippers, Fluff and Puff, for the murder of a local Were. Add to that a ghost who wants Jazz to update her wardrobe and you have one busy witch.
