i've always wondered... when uncle owen mentions 'he died about the same time as your father...' ... where does luke get the idea that obi-wan knew him?? .. i'm sure a lot of people died around the same time as say, any random famous dead person.. doesn't mean they knew 'em ..

Agreed. I've always found Luke's leap of logic a bit odd but obviously Anakin was something of a taboo subject in the Lars household and Luke was probably anxious to learn anything he could prompting him to reach that conclusion. Then there's also the fact that Owen didn't even need to mention his father at all. A simple 'he died long ago' would have been enough to put Luke off.

I think that was one of my posts. It's in one of the novels, most probably, one of the novelisations, or one of Zahn's books, I seem to remember most from them.
