I am still partly perplexed at the formation of the Empire. The clone army which belongs to the republic (correct?) from what I saw consisted of Star Destroyers (seen at the end) and stormtroopers to name a couple.. primairly what the Empire has (once it forms... which I assume would be in Epo. 3)
But, does the Chancelor (who is later the Emperor) turns the senete entirely to the dark side (since it was said that the dark side had a big influence over the senete).. thus, they form the Empire.. and a smaller group forms the Rebllion. But, how would the Empire inherit the army when the Republic spilts?.. because I certainly know the rebellion won't have it.
Which brings me to ask... why would the Chancelor want to kill Padme? To control the senete... and turn it to the dark side? And if so, why would he want to do that? Simply wanting power and control?

You didn't see the formation of the Empire any more than you saw the fall of Anakin. What you saw was the begining of the dark times just starting They weren't Star Destroyers as such, but definitly predecesors to them.
Well, the Republic doesn't so much split as disgruntled members leave and join the rebellion. Sort of like the Seperatists.
In Episode I he was after Naboo to build sympathy to get himself in to the CHancelor post. In Episode II He wanted her dead to show how dire circumstances were, thereby getting the power he needed to take over.

Yup, the shape of those ships... the clonetrooper armor, etc is all supposed to allow the audience to make the connection between the Dark

I think that was the idea of the Sith, yet it wouldn't make sense at the end of ROTJ when Coruscant and its people cheer and celebrate the death of the Emporer. I believe the Emporer ruled by fear.

Of all the gin joints in all the world, Drew C. walks into mine
He wants to kill Padme as she opposes the Senate getting a clone army, and getting a clone army is central to his plans to take over the galaxy.

Maybe he didn't. Getting her to Naboo - so that Jar-Jar would be his pawn - and so that she would be thrown together with Anakin - THAT was what he really wanted, and the failed attempt on Padme was just what was needed to achieve this.
The bad guys' plots are working VERY well in this film.

Basicly Palpy gets on his soupbox and anounces there are going to be a few changes;
1). Replace the word 'Republic' with 'Empire' 2). Replace the word 'Chancelor' with 'Emperor'. 3). My position is now a life term
Oh and before anyone desided to protest, remeber the army? Well they take their orders from me, and no one else. Any question?
