I don't think padme will die, because leia said that she was very young when her mother died and that she can barely remeber her. That would mean that she was at least some years old when her mother died. Since there are 2 years between EP2 and 3 and

padme is pregnant in EP3, she can't die.

Padme's death may have something to do with Anakin crossing over. If Anakin turns well before the end of the movie, we may see him take out a few jedi himself.

Is it definite that Episode 3 is 2 years after Episode 2?
This is one of those questions I've been thinking about, and I've been wondering if maybe as soon as the Jedi discovered Padme was pregnant, they took her away and kept her hidden from Anakin. This could be something that happens before Episode 3, and Episode 3 could deal with him finding her and her somehow dying (perhaps something that Anakin would blame the Jedi and Obi-Wan for). In this case, he may never know about her.
Then again, I guess Natalie has said she will be pregnant in the movie, so who knows.
Regarding how Leia may be able to remember her, perhaps the Force is responsible? It could be that when Leia was growing up she had images of her mother because of the Force, but was so young she couldn't distinguish these from the physical presence of her mother.
