Football is a game based around kicking a ball using the foot. So Rugby, Aussie Rules and Gaelic footy may indeed be called football, by virtue of that definition. I'd like to know if at any point they do kick the ball in Gridiron? Maybe they should just call it Gridiron and drop the football thing altogether. Anyway, we all know there is only one football which is played internationally by more than half the countries on the globe.

Not much a football fan regardless of incarnation, but I'll do my best. At two points only. The field goal extra point immediately after a 'touchdown' ('goal' run in by hand), or when 'punting' to the opposing team after a field goal. Both of these occur outside of actual play. No other footing allowed in US football. it's all either running with ball in hand or throwing the ball so someone else can carry it.
