I liked the new droids who twist their arms to fire, v. cool.

One question though, where were the droids being controlled from this time? If there was a droid control ship you'd have thought the Jedi would try and take this out, thus limiting the size of the army thet were fighting against...

The only explanation I can think of is they were being controlled from the command centre were we see the Death Star plans. We see Dooku watching the battle on a 3D battlefield. Maybe they learnt their lesson after Ep I.

As far as I remember someone said that there was a bit in the script that was cut that explained this. The Jedi took out a droid control station and the droids shutdown, but then their independant power units kicked in. So they fixed the design flaw from Ep1.

Well, there were a lot of those type ships in orbit, so they could have been controlling them from space.

Weren't they the new Super Battle Driods? Maybe they have improved intelligence and are able to function independently.

I'm sure I saw part of a script where Ki Adi Mundi did something that disabled the droids but they momentarily came back to working order for some reason or other. Perhaps another bit on the cutting room floor ?

No, the Federation learned from its mistakes. The droids are powered and controlled by themself, with restictions of course..
