In Empire Strikes Back Yoda leads Luke to believe that size doesn't matter when he lifts and carries the X-wing out of the swamp. But in Attack of the Clones, Yoda has trouble with the big pilon thing that's about to squash the main characters. If size doesn't matter, Yoda should be able to move that thing around as easily as Anakin handles Padme's fruit for her at their little love supper.
Was Yoda just talking smack to make Luke feel like a loser or what?

Size doesn't matter. A Jedi could move a giant helium balloon around quite easily. Mass, however, seems to make quite a difference.

Yes, but that's a cop-out answer. An X-wing also has mass. Yoda used the relocating of the X-wing as the example to Luke that size doesn't matter. In which case, he's also telling Luke that mass doesn't matter. Or was he just smack talking to belittle Luke and his lesser abilities?

He was likely being somewhat relative.
If mass didn't matter, ObiWan should have used the force to move the DeathStar into a sun...

But still, what you're saying is that size does matter. Otherwise it wouldn't have been simpler to move the bodies instead of the pillar, and Yoda wouldn't have needed all day to move the X-wing. I just think he could have been honest to Luke about it. 'Yes size matters, but you should still be able to move that freakin thing. I can do it and I'm a short green thing. It just makes me more tired than when I steel my chick's fruit cut it and move it back through the air back to her.' It seems like the Padawans in the Skywalker family always get stuck with the masters who try to give them inferiority conflicts.

Eh. In all fairness, Yoda was certainly concentrating a good deal on that x-wing. No more or less, in fact, than he concentrated on the pillar. Which let Dooku get away. Consistent.

Yes which begs my original question (see original post in this thread). Does size matter? You're saying it does. Why did Yoda say it didn't?

Size of the person using the force is what Yoda was refering.

What Yoda was telling Luke is that a Jedi can move anything if he puts his mind to it. He's really not saying 'Hey, is really easy to move something big with lots of mass'.

Wrong. Yoda scolded Luke, telling him size was irrelevant.
