Dooku/Tyrannus was padawan to Yoda? So, Yoda to Dooku to Qui-gon to Obi-Wan? Things do tend to skip generations, don't they . . .
Also, I am glad that it is now official that Yoda spends some time teaching the young padawans

This may not be canon, but I was under the impression that a Jedi Knight became a Master when he/she had at least one Padawan that passed the trials (whatever those are).

Listen to how the Jedi in TPM refer to one another; they always refereed to full knights as 'master'.

They refer to masters as master. Obi-Wan was referred to as Padawan. Yoda and Qui-Gon were addressed as master because they were. According to published sources Ki-Adi-Mundi was the only member of the Jedi Council who was not a master as he had yet to take on a Padawan learner.

Christopher Lee 80 Liam Neeson 40 Ewan McGregor 30 Hayden Christensen 20
So Dooku could easily be twice as old as Qui-Gonn, so he could easily be old enough to train him, so even if Qui-Gonn was twenty years older then LN he could still be taught by Dooku
