Death Star Question (spoiler)

I noticed in the Attack of the clones George Lucas included the death star. Does anybody hear why he decided to put this in the film?

Because has an annoying tendency to shoehorn everything from the original trilogy into the new movies...

Because he wanted to slap Kevin J Anderson down for creating his own storyline on the creation of the Death Star.

Wouldn't surprise me...

Not that I know who Kevin J Anderson is....

I always thought the Death Star was created by Moff Tarkin... at least that is what Vader leads you to believe in ANH.

I always took the pronoun 'you' in that sentence to be a reference to the Imperial forces as a group, not Tarkin individually. Although not clearly demonstrated in ANH, it is a fact that Vader is the locum of the Emperor, not a member of the group of people that includes the likes of Tarkin, Tagge and Motti.

well obviously it took YEARS to contruct a ship the size of a small moon! So it makes sense that they were planning it about 20 years before it became operational.

Not only that, he wasn't TALKING to Tarkin, but to that other little weasel. I don't think Vader would ever talk that way to Tarkin - the characters seem to have a great deal of respect for each other.
