You guys may have already discussed this, but were those references to 'Close Wars' originally in Ep 4 or were they added when they redid the first 3?

Go ahead 'Dr. Bond', make my day...

'General Kenobi, years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars...' - Princess Leia.

'You fought in the Clone Wars?' - Luke Skywalker.

The Clone Wars were always mentioned in ANH. It's just a couple of lines but fans have been anxious to see the reference fully explained in the prequels ever since.

I believe that the reference to the clone wars was in the original print of the movie!

They were originally in when I first saw it after being reluctantly dragged to see 'that stupid movie' June 2, 1977 at the now-extinct majestic Cine Capri theater in Phoenix, Arizona. FYI, they showed all the SW trilogy special editions and 'Titanic' there before closing for demolition in early '98. What a waste! I still have my original $4.50 ticket stub, poster and booklet from the second day of its 1977 release. The best thing I ever was 'dragged' into. I saw it 13 more times during its full-year exclusive run there. Oh, the good ol' days! One film, one huge screen theater, one great experience. I hope that answers your question. Nothing will top my first Star Wars experience - I was hooked from the moment my mouth dropped at the opening flyby of the Imperial Star Destroyer. Trying to find a good-sized screen now is a joke. See Episode II on the largest screen you can find to truly get the most out of your indulgence or experience. Putting this film, as they did Episode I, on smaller multi-plex screens is a crime.

Yes the CLONE wars were mentioned in the original Episode 4, as part of the speech the holographic Leia gave to Ben & Luke.

'years ago you served my father in the CLONE wars.....':......and so on.
