I suppose it may be that when I saw ESB for the first time I was 9 and had little understanding of how those effects where done. Now after 21 years of loving movies and watching programmes on the making of them I know how effects are done, but am I alone in finding CGI dull? IMO ESB looks far better than ATOC & TPM. The Command ship in ESB works very well as a model and is far more impressive than any of the ships in the latest movies. CGI looks/moves the same in every movie, any of the CGI monsters in ATOC could have come from the film EVOLUTION. I would also like to see some more real sets in EpIII (with some matte painting enhancements), less shots of people only standing in forground with slight blurry edges around them.

Computers have their place, But less is more.

Agreed. Effects (most notably ships and some sets) from the original trilogy seemed more real to me.

That's because they were real - real models anyway.

True. But some CGI effects can seem more real.

I used to have that very same wish. After seeing ATOC, I'm not so sure I do anymore. After seeing their inability to shoot shortened sets and make them larger with perspective, they may as well just stick with acting in a green box. Between that and the graininess when they were shooting with light levels that were far too low (Hi my name is George Lucas and I haven't heard of filters or cleaning things up in post production, cause I don't have to do anything well, the lemmings will bail me out), a lot of the early movie looked amateurish.

But hey, at least we have a Star Wars film that finally addresses the topic of masturbation in a galaxy far far away. Think of all the parents who will be saved the awkwardness of 'the talk' by using ATOC as a segway into an important discussion about 'self-love' and puberty and growing up. Why with Padame's outfit, a smooth transition to BDSM isn't exactly out of the question either.
