'Star Wars' tally revised downward Monday May 20 8:02 PM ET

Call it a disturbance in The Force, but it turns out 20th Century Fox was off by a few light years when it estimated its weekend box office tally for its latest 'Star Wars' adventure. And that's good news for its webslinging rival, 'Spider-Man.'

Fox, a division of News Corp, said Monday that 'Star Wars: Episode II

AOTC had 12% fewer theaters than Spidey, but still grossed only 3% less than Spidey in its opening weekend. That's a net 9% edge for AOTC.

You're using AOTC's four day numbers compared to Spidey's three day. Apples and oranges.

Face it, TJM, you were wrong. AOTC on it's OPENING THREE DAY WEEKEND barely made 70 percent of what Spidey did on his opening weekend.

So what? GL isn't in a competition with Spiderman why should anyone else?

Actually, the more money Spiderman makes the better and more money potential there is for SW.

AOTC will probably gross over $500 million. Fox is overjoyed at the movie's performance.
