Enough with that Spider Man shit. It's clear that SW has taken back his thrown: SW has gained more money in the first 5 days that Spidey. Although Spidey has made the most money yet currently, SW will overthrown him.

It 's showing on 1500 fewer screens, so get off the totals spiderman fanboys. There is no question what the biggest movie ofthe year will be. There has never been a Star Wars play second fiddle to any movie the year it was released, so its just plain dumb assuming it will now.

4 Days = 5 Days?

Okay....

135,840,755 / 5 days = 27,168,151 per day 110,169,231 / 4 days = 27,542,307.75 per day, with 500 fewer prints....

But, who cares? Spiderman was a better movie (in critical terms), but I still love AOTC, and this isn't alt.fan.spiderman.

And what difference will it make ? Will your life somehow be enriched ? Will you call all your friends & go out to celebrate this with a few beers ?

I really don't care which movie makes the most money but Spider-Man had something to gain from getting big money out of the gate.

With the numbers so high on the first weekend it locked down the fact that there will be another Spider-Man movie, and another, and another.....you get the idea.

Star Wars has nothing to gain by making or setting any type of record. There is one SW movie left.....then that's it.

Now just to add fuel to the fire. Sony made deals with all the owners that they would get the movie but Spider-Man had to stay on the biggest screens (more seats) in each theater until this coming weekend. (think about it....was your Star Wars on the biggest screen at the place you seen it?)

Yeah it's dirty pool.....but who said it was a fair fight?

2137.public.lawson.webtv.net>:

Actually it was & in the same theater that Spiderman was. Perhaps the deal doesn't apply everywhere ? *shrug*

Yes - in Australia. Spider-man is not yet released here.

However, the *biggest* screen available seems not to be the best option for this movie. It has been widely commented that the transfer from digitial to celluloid has left some dark scenes and backgrounds looking a bit grainy, and this is magnified on the largest screens. But it doesn't detract *that* much from the movie, which is after all a special-effects show. And I will see it a handful of times on the big screen, and a hundred times on DVD at home, so nil desperandum.
