Let's set it WAY in the 'future' of the SW universe, say a thousand years after Ep III. That gets us a whole new cast of characters with no worries about continuity because, heck, a lot can happen in a thousand years. We can get to see some new technology and different sorts of starships, all kinds of neat stuff (Droid rulers? etc.) . . . Ep 9 can end with the heroes 'discovering' a new planet on the outer reaches of the Galaxy which a closing shot reveals to be Earth sometime in the distant past. . . we learn that 'we' are thus the descendents of these ancient people whose technology inspired ancient civilizations of Earth.

Cool / not cool?

No way, that would be like turning SW into 'Battlestar Galactica' or something. A big part of SW's appeal is its 'otherness'... connecting the story to Earth would totally ruin that element of fantasy.

And besides, it's 'a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away'... not our own galaxy.

Interestingly enough I had the same thoughts about an ending to Ep9 if there would ever be one. Sorta happens like princess Eveanly escapes from the evil grasp of the dark side with a descendent of Anikin Skywalker (perhaps Adamrially Skywalker) and ends up on Earth....

A long time ago in a galaxy not really that far away?

Creating a new saga set in a different time frame, but the same universe has merit. Tieing earth into in any way shape for form is a bad idea.

I actial have an outline in the back of my head for a story (designed for film) set 1,000 years after ROTJ. Nine parts spaning 3 generation, and it starts and ends where any good SW story should; Tanitoonie.

I've also been pounder an orgins of the Jedi that takles place on midevil Courisont.

Where the heck is Tanitoonie?

As for the previous post, that plotline involving Earth sounds too much like Battlestar Galactica.

I can never get the spelling of Tatoonie right without looking it up.

lol it's 'Tatooine'

To your credit, Tatooine was mistyped as 'Tatoonie' in the first novelization of ANH.
