B-wing/Shantipole/Book Questions

What book(s) in the EU, if any, cover the Shantipole Project? I know that it's the topic of one of the WEG rpg books, but I can't seem to find any information about whether or not it's covered in a novel. Also, does anyone know definitively what engines the B-wing is equipped with? Some sites state that it's a single Quadex Kyromaster engine with four variable nozzles, while others say it's four Slayn & Korpil JZ-5 fusial thrust engines.

I've read forty EU novels and on top of that, my brother has read the X-Wing series. Neither of us have heard of the Shantipole Project

Hmm, the official Star Wars site refers to the Shantipole Project under the EU section for the B-wing, although not by name...perhaps that name was only used in the RPG. Anyway, the Shantipole Project is supposedly the codename of the B-wing's development by the Verpine and Admiral Ackbar. I've never played the RPG or read any of the novels, so I have *no* idea. I'm just trying to nail down what is and isn't canon regarding the B-wing's development and specs, and the net is rife with info derived from the RPG, a source I would think wouldn't be canon.

The B-Wing's development is referred to obliquely in some novels, including, IIRC, the X-Wing books. Admiral Ackbar developed the fighter in conjunction with some Verpine techs to counteract the Y-Wing's dual problems of slow speed and lack of agility. On the subject of canon, the EU novels aren't canon, but they are official, so unless they contradict a canon source, they're taken as being 'true'. RPG sourcebooks also fall into this category.
