Since we only see Obi-Wan and Yoda in the original trilogy, I guess most of the Jedi get slaughtered at some point. This leaves Obi-Wan and Yoda's only decision to split up and go into hiding.........even though Anakin would probably know that they're still alive, unless he assumes that both are dead (possibly clones).
If so.......Lucas is dangerously going into a Spider-Man like clone saga that not only confuses the casual fan, but alienates the hardcore fan as well.
When in doubt, stay away from complex plots........

P O S S S I B L E
S P O I L E R
One of the talked about possiblities is that Yoda needs to go to Dagobah in the third installment in order to get a clearer picture of what was going on force-wise. Something like too many force signals all convoluting each other...like interference on a tv or white noise on a radio station. While he's doing that....most of the rest of the jedi council is off doing various other things in the galaxy...obi wan sent to protect amidala...ki adi mundi and plo kloon sent w/ a team of other jedi on a rescue mission. I think the only one watching the fort is Mace and whatever Jedi are in the temple. Well, basically...Mace and all of them get slaughtered once Palpy reveals who he really is and sends masses of clone troopers troopers to take out the jedi and the temple. Any nearby jedi that come in to help also end up getting killed. Anakin eventually comes in after his travels and is pissed because he went to Naboo to see his wife, only to find her dead. So he's pissed and blames the Jedi order and while all the remaining Jedi think he's there to help them he just takes them out one by one. Then he leaves after releasing his frustations and meets up w/ Palpatine, who reveals his true identity and uses his corrupt psychology tricks and as Dooku arrives Palaptine falesly says it was the Count who killed Amidala so that Anakin will feed off negative energy and anger and kill Dooku and basically complete his turning to the dark side. Obi is the only escapee and heads to Dagobah, and then Yoda and Obi make that fateful decision to hang out and hide out until until Obi is sent to go after Anakin for one last battle, which of course is the final turning of anakin into darth vader...
What gets me is that in ESB Yoda says for Luke to go into a particular part of the swamp where a dark jedi was killed. I figured they would've mentioned this in the this upcoming movie because I figured Yoda would have to confront Dooku again, while Anakin only fights Obi-Wan.

'SuperStudd' that not only confuses the casual fan, but >alienates the hardcore fan as
most SW fans I know don't see it that way. Lucas is not doing anything complicated with clones other than using them for an army. It is *you* and all the other fan boys that are reading all this extracurricular cloning into the films. Lucas only uses the clones for the clone troopers.
*It is Expanded Universe authors like Timothy Zahn that overuse the whole clone concept with Joruuus C'Baoth and clone Luke, etc.
Memento is just one movie with a complex plot that is far better movie than most movies with 'simple' plots...

Ya I think so too, a great many Jedi are already dead in EP 2 doesnt seem like a huge stretch that Yoda and Obi Wan are only ones left by 4. Mace said he was taking all he could gather or something to that effect so we can assume that at least every Jedi from Corusant anyway went with them. I have the number 200 in my head from somewhere as the number that went and we only see like what 20? survive and hop on those ships when they arrive. Also we really have no idea if a few other Jedi could have escaped to some far reaches of the galaxy, perhaps unknown to even Yoda and effectively be nonfactors in the plot.

Isn't one of the spin-off book story lines based on the cloning of the Jedi - thus Obi Wan really meaning 'O-B-1' ?? A designation, not a name.
