Think about it. Lucas trimmed several scenes and even removed some from the version of AOTC we've been watching in the theaters. Much like Spielberg did with Close Encounters of the Third Kind (with the extended ending) and Spy Kids (re-released during it's second run but with additional scenes) do you think Lucas might try to bring everyone back for another viewing of AOTC by announcing an extended Special Edition before the DVD is released?
It could work, at least for those of us who are fans.

He didn't do it with TPM. The DVD is supposedly going to be released before the end of the year anyway. I for one wouldn't pay to see it again when I know it's going to be released on DVD so soon. I've got a copy of it as it is (which is admittedly a very bad copy), so I can hold out.
