Anakin to Vader voice transition

I hope Hayden Christensen practices his diction & delivery for EPIII. It will be sooo awkward to hear Hayden speak as he did in AOTC, just before James Earl Jones' dialogue kicks in. Sadly, I don't think Lucas cares much about the transition. If he did, he would have dubbed JEJ's voice over Sebastian Shaw's in ROTJ.

I agree, I hope GL doesn't screw that one up. One thing I do think is believable is the part you mentioned in ROTJ. IMHO the mask probably lowered and altered the voice of Anakin to put fear into others as well as make it very authoritive. Hopefully Hayden will practice as you say and it will still be believable.

It's the Vader suit and voice box that makes him sound like James Earl Jones. Sebastian Shaw (the unmasked Anakin in ROTJ) shoulnd't sound like Jones. It should be the natural voice of the man in the suit, of course, without a

Hopefuly Lucas will come to his senses and realize that Hayden will not be the right actor for EP-III. Darth Vader is 7 feet tall, and is supposed to be a virtuoso with the light sabre. The scene with Dooku versus Anakin makes it obvious that he's not good enough to do intricately choreographed closeups with a light sabre the way Ewan McGregor or Ray Park is.

The cool EP-III light sabre battles are going to be a rematch between Dooku and *Anakin*, and possibly a match between Anakin and Yoda, where Anakin wins both (that's part of the point of showing of Yoda and Dooku's mastery in this episode

Right. Anakin gets a totally new face and body 2 years after the events of AOTC. Ok...sure.

I don't think it's a screw-up, I just think the voice changes with the mask being on him, and that's why the voice changes.

Maybe Lucas wanted Vader's voice to sound like a super-duper electrolarynx (e.g. Ned's voice on South Park). Either way, IMO James Earl Jones *is* Vader.

I noticed a couple of tiny microphones in front of Anakin's mouth when Luke took the helmet off. Perhaps it was a case of voice enhancement that made Anakin's voice sound like it did.
