I thought it was a hoot, but I don't buy how he rationalizes away the evil of the Sith. Vader doesn't just try to recruit Luke to the Empire, he wants him to team up as father and son to rule it, after they kill (murder) Palpatine.
It's also pretty hard to justify killing everyone on a planet because some of the citizens are disloyal.

Interesting article. But have you ever considered that the reason he sympathizes with the Empire and not the Rebellion is because he is living in an Empire? Star Wars teaches us the ends do not justify the means. The creation of the empire leads Vader and the government into a crusade to restore order by force to millions of planets. It can never happen. The crusade itself brings them closer and closer to the dark side.
The planetary council, although slow to respond, is on the morally correct side... this is what this journalist does not understand, because he is living in a morally devoid society
