When did it get that name? Was it back in 1977, or was it after esb or rotj, or after it was rereleased in 97

I am lucky enough to have seen all versions of all the films... how sad is that!

The original release of 'Star Wars' simply began without the two first lines. This was due to the uncertainty of filming the other films as Fox saw the whole project as 'high risk'.

When filming for epV began, the titles were then included, as we see them now. Star Wars was still playing in cinemas, and in 1979 the new version began filtering through... Also demand was such that Star Wars was available for viewing alongside epV.
